The 14 Ways to Drive Free Traffic to Your Blog
Things to keep in mind:
I will be showing you 14 ways to drive free traffic to your blog. In other words, you won’t pay for the traffic you get from them. Therefore, please, kindly don’t use it for spam purposes.
Here is why:
- Spamming will only hurt you in the long run.
- Your efforts can easily be undone by the site users/administrators.
Therefore, please be careful and don’t spam. Instead, always make sure you give value or else, you will be tarnishing your brand, your name and literally wasting time over nothing.
1. Drive Free Traffic to Your Blog Through Forum Marketing
Forums aren’t dead. In fact, they are as active as ever!
Just think of Quora.com!
With it comes to forum marketing to drive traffic, you would want to be careful with it. Like I said, don’t spam.
The way to do it? Find a few forums in your niche. Sign up.
Then follow the forums. When someone asks a question or needs help with something you know, make sure you leave a very helpful comment, and add a link to one of your blog posts that are related to the question.
It works like magic!
I recently wrote a comment on Quora that got over 3.7k Views in literally no time with a mere 3 upvotes! So don’t take it for granted!
2. Drive Free Traffic to Your Blog Through Blog Comments
Driving traffic to your blog through comments is an interesting topic. It has two parts. One to do with SEO, and the other to do with comment traffic. I will explain more in a bit.
The way to do it is to also find a few blogs that you want to follow in your niche.
When they post, make sure you comment with something valuable. You can agree with them, or disagree or provide a different perspective. Make sure your comment carries value.
The SEO part is that commenting too much on blogs might actually hurt your blog’s Search engine optimization efforts. Watch this video from Matt Cuts:
If you want comments to be a good source of traffic for your blog, one comment is not going to cut it out! Comment a lot on the same blogs so people see your name on more than one post.
TIP: If your comment is long and carries a lot of value, that’s going to position you as an authority in your niche, and as a result, it will drive you a lot of free traffic to your blog!
3. Drive Free Traffic to Your Blog Through SEO
SEO or search engine optimization is one of the best ways to drive free traffic to your blog.
Making sure your website looks good to both people and search engines, you will be set! This is more of a long-term thing, however, make sure you think about SEO from day 1.
Most bloggers don’t care about SEO, however, it honestly is one of the best ways to drive free traffic to your blog.
However, this is not a short-term strategy since it can take Google months to rank you properly, that’s if you’ve been doing your homework like link building.
4. Drive Free Traffic to Your Blog Through Content Aggregation
Getting your site (and posts) listed with a top content aggregator can send a flood of traffic.
One of your options can be Alltop.com.
Aggregators are sites that collect blog posts. The benefit of an aggregator (a site that aggregates, or collects blog posts) is that they have a larger and broader readership than you do. By placing links to your content on these popular platforms, you can count on more traffic. But there’s a catch: they don’t accept just any site. While this is great for you when you are accepted, it can be hard to get accepted when your site is still new.

But there’s a catch: they don’t accept just any site. While this is great for you when you are accepted, it can be hard to get accepted when your site is still new.
However, I suggest that you give it a shot! You are not losing anything at the end, right?
Also, who knows? You might just get accepted!
5. Drive Free Traffic to Your Blog Through Content Syndication
Content syndication is simply submitting your post RSS feed to syndication services.
Being part of a content syndication platform does not only makes it easy for readers to follow your site but also notifies readers immediately upon publishing new content.
A popular solution is FeedBurner which is by Google.
Here are the top content syndication platforms:
6. Drive Free Traffic to Your Blog through Guest Blogging
Guest blogging is also one of the best ways to drive free traffic to your blog.
If you get an opportunity to guest blog on other sites, you can count on more traffic from the links you post on your content.
This does not only help with traffic but also great for SEO.
On the surface, what you need to do is find a blog in your niche, email the person behind the blog. Make sure you don’t randomly email people so give it a thought, see what value you can add to their readers.
Once you find something of value, you can email the owner or the editors of the blog about your post idea and see if they are interested.
7. Drive Free Traffic to Your Blog Through Video Syndication
Did you know that you can also syndicate videos?
If you make videos, then this is great for you!
You can check out OneLoad which when you post a video, it takes it and posts it to multiple platforms.
The non-commercial version is free, however, you can also get the other option for $75. You can check it out and chose what best fits you.
8. Drive Free Traffic to Your Blog Through Trackbacks
When mentioning other blogs/blog posts on your content, if they are using something like WordPress and you are too, their site will get notified that you liked to them.
Trackbacks are usually placed in the comments section and sometimes slightly above.
This can be a great way to drive quality traffic to your blog.
9. Drive Free Traffic to Your Blog Through Writing Great Content
Writing great content is essential! I drove so much traffic by writing simple articles that really got the people’s attention.
Why write great content? and how does it help drive free traffic to your blog?
When you write great content, those who see it will willingly want to share it! When they do, you will get more traffic as well!
An example of content that easily gets shared is list posts. List posts are the type that you find on social media that says something like “7 steps to running a mile in less than 5 minutes” or “14 ways to drive free traffic to your blog”. 😉
PS: If this post is helping you, please share it! 😀 Thank you in advance 🙂
10. Drive Free Traffic to Your Blog Through Twitter
Having a Twitter account can really help with driving traffic.
in conjunction with writing great content, you can count on more traffic to your blog almost instantly!
According to Moz, the average lifespan of a tweet is a mere 18 minutes! It may seem like a short amount of time, however, with the rapid amount of tweets being published per second, it is more than likely that your tweets get lost in the crowd of newer tweets, losing its power shortly after.
So the trick is to tweet often and retweet yourself every now and then. Don’t overdo it though because your followers are humans as well!
11. Drive Free Traffic to Your Blog Using Facebook
Look at this screenshot from my Google Analytics! See how amazing it is?
Facebook is a tough one, however, if you do it right, it can also be a great source of traffic to your blog.

See the picture above? Stumbleupon is amazing when you have content that people love!
So give it a shot!
Simple write a really great article, give it an amazing title, and submit it to StumbleUpon.
If people like it they will stumble it and there you go! You can gain massive readership with it!

15. [Bonus] Drive Free Traffic to Your Blog through Contest Marketing
Simply create a contest on social media! Promote it! Let people share it!
Yes, you will have to pay for this one, but the payment is definitely worth the traffic you will be getting in return!
The way I’d do it is like this:
Step 1: Think of a contest idea.
Step 2: Create a simple squeeze page (aka landing page).
Step 3: Run a simple ad on Facebook to promote it.
Make sure the prize is worth what people are going to do in return so it goes viral.
A good example of how powerful this is the launch of Marina De Giovanni, the owner notamodel.tv! She generated 17,600 email subscribers from a contest within 6 weeks!
Isn’t that just amazing? You can read her story here.
I hope this was helpful to you and gets you going!
